22 Feb 2021 - Tree Planting Project Update

In December 2020 the we set out to raise funds for the Batwa Pygmies to plant trees as part of their Christmas Festival.

The decline of tourism and tourism-related activities due to the coronavirus pandemic has negatively impacted the living of the Batwa community. Batwa are now the threats to the protected area and its inhabitant.

Natural resource extraction like food such as wild yams and honey, Poaching and diseases associated with illegal entry in the park by Batwa are the greatest threat to the gorilla. To combat this, the imitative set out to raise enough funds to plant 380 new trees.

Because of the generosity of our supporters, tree planting was able to begin on January 19th 2021. Here is a short video to show you their progress.
